OKX’s X Layer launches Exchange OS, allowing users to create custom crypto markets
Summary
OKX's X Layer has launched Exchange OS, a new protocol-level upgrade designed to eliminate the fragmentation of on-chain financial infrastructure. By moving core exchange functions—such as matching, settlement, and risk management—directly to the blockchain, the platform allows developers and institutions to build custom spot, perpetual, and outcome markets using a shared infrastructure stack. Users can configure these markets permissionlessly through the XIP-Exchange OS proposal process. To demonstrate the system's capabilities, X Layer plans to launch a simulated 2026 World Cup outcome market in June.
