Grayscale files for HYPE ETF tracking largest onchain perps DEX Hyperliquid

The Block
Grayscale has filed for the Grayscale HYPE ETF, which will track the native token of the decentralized perpetual exchange, Hyperliquid.

Summary

Major crypto asset manager Grayscale has filed an S-1 registration statement for the Grayscale HYPE ETF, designed to track the native token of Hyperliquid, a high-performance Layer 1 blockchain specializing in decentralized perpetual futures trading. Hyperliquid is currently the largest venue for onchain perpetuals. If approved, the ETF would trade on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol GHYP, utilizing Coinbase Custody as the custodian and CoinDesk’s Benchmark pricing data. The filing indicates that HYPE staking is currently prohibited, though a future condition could allow for it. Grayscale is not the first to file for a HYPE fund, as 21Shares and Bitwise also filed late last year. Hyperliquid, while currently barred to U.S. users, has established the Hyperliquid Policy Center for lobbying efforts in Washington D.C.
