Grayscale begins distributing staking rewards to Ethereum ETF investors in ‘landmark moment’

The Block
Grayscale has started distributing staking rewards to investors in its Ethereum staking ETF, marking a first for U.S. Ethereum ETFs.

Summary

Crypto asset manager Grayscale announced it has begun distributing staking rewards to shareholders of its Grayscale Ethereum Staking ETF. The firm claims this makes it the first Ethereum Exchange-Traded Product (ETP) in the U.S. to pass staking rewards directly through to investors, a move CEO Peter Mintzberg called a "landmark moment" for the Ethereum community and ETPs generally. Grayscale enabled staking in its Ethereum ETFs in October. The current distribution covers staking rewards earned between October 6 and December 31, with shareholders set to receive $0.083178 per share on January 6. The approval of Ethereum ETFs by the SEC in 2024 has cemented Ethereum's role in institutional adoption, following the launch of other crypto ETFs that also feature staking capabilities.
