Coinbase, Binance Among Exchanges Targeted for Widened AML Checks by French Regulator: Bloomberg
Summary
France's Prudential Supervision and Resolution Authority (ACPR) is conducting widened anti-money laundering (AML) checks on cryptocurrency exchanges, including Coinbase and Binance, as part of the process to grant European Union (EU)-wide Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) licenses. The ACPR has been performing onsite inspections since late 2024 and has specifically instructed Binance to enhance its risk controls. Failure by these exchanges to meet the ACPR's requirements could jeopardize their ability to secure the MiCA license, which is necessary to offer services across the entire EU. Companies must obtain this license by the end of June next year.
