Sky Mavis is transitioning its Ronin network from an independent sidechain to an Ethereum Layer 2 solution powered by the OP Stack on May 12. This upgrade, facilitated via a hard fork, aims to bolster network architecture and significantly reduce RON token inflation from over 20% to under 1%. The migration comes four years after the 2022 Lazarus Group exploit, which drained $625 million from the network, and occurs amidst a challenging period for the broader Web3 gaming sector, which has seen substantial declines in funding and user activity.
