Nigel Farage faces standards probe over $6.7 million gift from Tether billionaire Christopher Harborne

The Conservative and Labour parties have accused Farage of breaking House of Commons rules by not declaring the gift, which was reportedly made in 2024 before he announced his candidacy for the Clacton seat. Farage confirmed the gift, stating it was intended for his personal security. Reform UK maintains the payment was an exempt, personal, unconditional gift and that all rules have been followed. The Conservatives are specifically questioning if the funds were used for political activity. This probe follows a significant £9 million donation from Harborne to Reform UK last year, and comes after the U.K. government imposed a moratorium on crypto donations to political parties.
