Societe Generale unit adds MiCA-compliant stablecoin to MetaMask
Summary
Societe Generale-FORGE, the digital asset subsidiary of Societe Generale, has partnered with Consensys to integrate its USD CoinVertible (USDCV) stablecoin into the MetaMask wallet. This integration will make USDCV available within MetaMask's mobile and web interfaces, supporting on-chain transactions and interactions with decentralized applications. Users will be able to perform fiat on- and off-ramping, trade digital assets, and engage with DeFi protocols using USDCV. Notably, the stablecoin will also support MetaMask's Gas Station feature, allowing transaction fees to be paid directly in USDCV. SG FORGE CEO Jean-Marc Stenger stated that this move aims to accelerate an interoperable financial system by combining blockchain technology with the security of a European-issued, bank-backed asset. USDCV is one of two stablecoins issued by SG FORGE; the other is EUR CoinVertible (EURCV), launched in April 2023. As of April 15, USDCV had 26.3 million tokens in circulation, and EURCV had 105.9 million euros in circulation.
