World launches MiniKit 2.0 to unify app development across web and World App

Crypto Briefing
World launched MiniKit 2.0, a framework simplifying app development for both web and World App, boosting efficiency and user experience.

Summary

World has released MiniKit 2.0 on World Chain, a standardized framework designed to streamline application development. This upgrade allows developers to build applications once and deploy them across web environments and the World App with minimal modifications, aligning with the Ethereum EIP-1193 standard. Mini Apps are experiencing significant growth, with over 12.1 million opens in the past week and a total of 2.2 billion opens. MiniKit 2.0 facilitates easy conversion of existing applications into Mini Apps, sometimes requiring only two lines of code, and enables seamless mirroring between web and World App versions.

The update also expands local payment options with the addition of several stablecoins, including wARS, wCOP, wMXN, wBRL, wPEN, wCLP, and EURC, establishing World Chain as a key infrastructure for localized payments. Performance is enhanced through Flashblocks integration, reducing transaction confirmation times to approximately 200 milliseconds. Furthermore, World is introducing gas sponsorship via Privy, simplifying user onboarding by covering transaction fees.

World Build 3, the developer program, is now accepting applications, offering a hackathon, build week in Seoul, virtual program, and demo day in San Francisco. Previous participants have collectively raised over $15 million in venture capital. MiniKit 2.0 is also being showcased at EthCC.
