USDT0 goes live on payments-focused blockchain Tempo
Summary
USDT0, the omnichain version of the largest stablecoin USDT, is now live on Tempo, a Layer 1 blockchain co-developed by Stripe and Paradigm that focuses on payments. USDT0 tokens, which use LayerZero's Omnichain Fungible Token standard and maintain a 1:1 backing with USDT, are designed for seamless, bridgeless movement between chains using a lock and mint/burn mechanism. According to USDT0 co-founder Lorenzo R., this deployment creates a more connected system for fast and predictable dollar liquidity movement. Tempo is specifically engineered for stablecoin use, featuring predictable settlement, stable fees, and an enshrined automated market maker for protocol-level stablecoin swaps. Nischay Upadhyayula of Tempo noted that USDT0 brings unified USDT liquidity directly into this environment, benefiting builders by eliminating the need to manage fragmented pools or bridges. This deployment marks USDT0's 23rd, following launches on Ethereum, various Layer 2s, Bitcoin scaling layers, and other specialized networks.
