South Korea’s Hana Group partners with Standard Chartered for digital asset business

The partnership aims to leverage their combined expertise and networks to expand their global presence in traditional finance, with discussions including joint initiatives in digital finance involving cryptocurrencies and stablecoins. Hana Financial Group Chairman Ham Young-joo stated the collaboration will create new growth opportunities through synergy in digital assets and future financial sectors. Both entities have been active in digital finance; Hana Bank previously partnered with BitGo to establish a crypto custody service, BitGo Korea, and Standard Chartered has launched spot Bitcoin and Ethereum trading for institutional clients while also being positioned to receive Hong Kong's stablecoin issuer licenses.
