Buterin Says Its Time To Revisit Idea Simplifying Ethereum Node Setup

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has proposed a change to unify the backend programs used by Ethereum nodes, aiming to simplify the process of running a node and increase decentralization. Currently, node operators must run two separate programs for the Beacon Chain and the execution layer, creating technical complexity. Buterin argues that running a node should be accessible to everyone, not just professionals, and that high hardware requirements shouldn't necessitate high DevOps skill requirements. He also previously proposed partially stateless nodes to reduce hardware costs and data storage. Buterin believes that a reliance on third-party providers creates censorship risks and that individuals should have the right to run their own Ethereum infrastructure. He has also allocated funds to support privacy-preserving technologies and secure software development within the Ethereum ecosystem.
