Foundry expands mining infrastructure with Zcash pool launch
Summary
Foundry Digital announced plans to launch an institutional-grade mining pool for Zcash in April 2026, marking an expansion beyond its current Bitcoin-focused infrastructure. This new pool aims to fill what Foundry perceives as a gap in compliant infrastructure supporting Zcash mining, targeting institutional and public company miners. The service will mirror the compliance, transparency, and operational framework of the Foundry USA Pool, the world's largest Bitcoin mining pool. Foundry CEO Mike Colyer stated that while Zcash has matured into an institutional asset, its mining infrastructure lagged behind. Zooko Wilcox, founder of Zcash, suggested the launch could help decentralize Zcash mining. The Foundry Zcash pool will be US-based and feature compliance infrastructure, transparent payouts, and dedicated support. Foundry has been a major infrastructure provider for institutional Bitcoin miners since 2019, maintaining high compliance standards.
