Societe Generale-FORGE Deploys MiCA-Compliant EURCV Stablecoin on Stellar
Summary
Societe Generale-FORGE has deployed its euro-denominated stablecoin, EUR CoinVertible (EURCV), on the Stellar blockchain, furthering a multichain expansion initially announced in 2025. EURCV is designed to adhere to the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulations and functions as a tokenized euro for digital asset markets. The company cites Stellar’s high throughput, low fees, and support for tokenized assets as key reasons for the deployment, alongside its built-in decentralized exchange. Launched on Ethereum in April 2023, EURCV is backed 1:1 by bank deposits and liquid assets, currently holding a market cap of approximately $452 million. Recent deployments have also occurred on the XRP Ledger and Solana. The move follows a SWIFT pilot program utilizing EURCV for tokenized bond exchange. Despite growing interest, the stablecoin market remains largely dominated by USD-backed assets like USDT and USDC, though Europe is pushing for greater adoption of euro-denominated tokens under the MiCA framework.
