X Lifts Crypto Promo Ban, Allows Paid Partnerships
Summary
Social media platform X, formerly Twitter, has updated its policy to permit paid promotional crypto posts, allowing industry influencers to monetize their content provided they adhere to a new paid partnership framework. However, X maintains a ban on general crypto advertisements in several key markets, including the UK and the European Union, due to strict financial promotion laws in those regions. Influencers must ensure that these paid crypto partnerships are blocked or not visible in the UK, EU, and Australia. Nikita Bier, X's head of product, stated the feature aims to encourage business building on the platform while maintaining transparency. The platform also continues to prohibit promotions for sex products, alcohol, dating platforms, drugs, supplements, tobacco, and weapons. This policy update comes as X plans to roll out its "everything app" features, including X Money, though the integration of crypto into X Money remains unclear.
