Citi to Integrate Bitcoin with Traditional Finance, Launch Custody Services

Citi is preparing to launch infrastructure later this year that will integrate Bitcoin into traditional finance, according to Nisha Surendran, head of digital asset custody development. This initiative, part of Citi's plan to "make Bitcoin bankable," focuses on three areas: core custody and safekeeping, integration with existing reporting and tax systems, and simplifying client access. The rollout will allow clients, whose assets Citi manages roughly $30 trillion across, to manage Bitcoin positions alongside traditional assets without needing to handle wallets or private keys themselves. Separately, Morgan Stanley also outlined plans at the same industry event to expand its digital asset offerings, including launching a native crypto custody and exchange platform.
