Gate Obtains Malta Payments Institution License, Strengthening EU Stablecoin Payment Infrastructure

Gate Technology Ltd, the Malta-based entity of the crypto platform Gate, has officially received a Payment Institution license from the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) under the EU's Second Payment Services Directive (PSD2). This regulatory achievement positions Gate to build a compliant bridge between traditional finance and Web3 infrastructure across Europe, leveraging passporting rights to expand payment services throughout the EU.

Gate Technology Ltd CEO, Mr. Giovanni Cunti, stated the license is crucial for delivering scalable, compliant payment solutions and aligns with the upcoming MiCA regulatory framework. This follows Gate's prior acquisition of a full MiCA license in Malta for exchange and custody services, reinforcing its global compliance strategy across jurisdictions like Cyprus, Japan, and Dubai.
