The politician, who is now running for Congress, was suspended for five years and fined $2,000 after betting on his own candidacy and posting about it on X. Kalshi also penalized a YouTube editor who traded about $4,000 on stream markets, resulting in a two-year penalty and a $20,000 fine, after surveillance flagged statistically anomalous trading success. The platform, which is regulated by the CFTC, has increased its surveillance efforts in response to regulatory scrutiny of prediction markets.
