UK FCA taps Monee, ReStabilise, Revolut, and VVTX to test stablecoin services

The UK's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) announced the selection of four companies—Monee Financial Technologies, ReStabilise, Revolut, and VVTX—to participate in a controlled testing program for stablecoin services. These participants were chosen from 20 applicants to trial products involving payments, wholesale settlements, and digital asset trading under live market conditions. Matthew Long, the FCA's director of payments and digital assets, stated the goal is to ensure UK stablecoin issuers can be trusted for these functions. The sandbox initiative allows testing with regulatory safeguards while gathering feedback to inform final policy decisions, with testing commencing in the first quarter of 2026. The findings will shape the UK's definitive stablecoin framework later this year, ahead of the broader crypto authorization gateway opening in September and full regulatory requirements taking effect in October 2027.
