The chief of the SEC is headlining an event sponsored by a crypto firm at war with it

SEC Chairman Paul Atkins is scheduled to speak at the Digital Chamber's DC Blockchain Summit, an event whose primary sponsor is Unicoin. This is notable because Unicoin is currently in a legal dispute with the SEC, alleging that the agency's staff is misleading Chairman Atkins into continuing a hostile stance towards the crypto industry. Unicoin CEO Alexander Konanykhin claims his company is barred from communicating directly with SEC leadership due to the ongoing lawsuit, which accuses Unicoin of misrepresenting its real estate-backed tokens. Konanykhin alleges that the case is a continuation of policies from former SEC Chair Gary Gensler, pursued by rogue enforcement staff. Despite the legal conflict, the summit organizers state the event aims to “educate and build bridges,” and the SEC declined to comment. Konanykhin has also launched a public campaign to raise awareness of his claims.
