SEC approves WisdomTree plan for 24/7 trading of tokenized money market fund
Summary
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) granted asset manager WisdomTree exemptive relief to allow its Treasury Money Market Digital Fund (ticker: WTGXX) shares to trade intraday at $1 with a dealer, rather than only at the end-of-day Net Asset Value (NAV) typical of mutual funds. This new structure enables 24/7 trading with instant settlement on blockchain rails, as trades occur against the dealer's inventory. WisdomTree also introduced continuous dividend accrual based on wallet holding time. This move is part of a broader trend tokenizing capital markets, with over $10 billion in tokenized U.S. Treasuries already circulating, and WisdomTree plans to initially offer this functionality to institutions via its Connect platform.
