NEAR Launches Near.com super app, touting AI capabilities and confidential transactions

NEAR has launched Near.com, a new consumer super app and crypto wallet designed to simplify blockchain technology by abstracting away complexities like gas fees and private keys, allowing users to manage assets like Bitcoin, stablecoins, and NFTs in one place. The company is betting that the next major growth area in crypto will be its convergence with Artificial Intelligence (AI). NEAR founder Illia Polosukhin envisions AI agents becoming "economic actors" that need crypto infrastructure for programmable, global, and automated settlements without intermediaries. Crucially, Near.com introduces a "confidential mode" to address the transparency trade-off in blockchain, allowing balances and transactions to remain private, making the platform more practical for everyday use and for AI agents that require discretion when transacting.
