Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin accelerates ETH sales

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has recently sold 1,869 ether (ETH), valued at $3.67 million over two days, adding downward pressure to the already weak market where ETH hit a 20-day low. These sales are part of a broader strategy announced on January 30th, where Buterin intends to liquidate 16,384 ether to finance ecosystem development, open-source software, and other key initiatives, especially as the Ethereum Foundation enters a "mild austerity" phase. Since February 2nd, Buterin has reportedly sold over 8,000 ether. Despite these sales, Buterin still holds over 224,000 ether, worth approximately $429 million. The sold supply is reportedly being acquired by entities like ShapeShift Founder Erik Voorhees and a whale linked to Matrixport.
