Vitalik Buterin Sold Over 8,800 ETH in February: Did It Impact the Price?

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin sold more than 8,800 ETH in February, valued at approximately $18.45 million, as part of a disclosed plan to strategically allocate 16,384 ETH over several years. These sales occurred while ETH was already in a broader downtrend, with one significant sale coinciding with a 22.7% price drop. Concurrently, Ethereum inflows to Binance reached their highest level since November 2025, suggesting increased potential selling pressure or trading activity. However, analysts noted that high inflows are not strictly bearish. Furthermore, a recent decline in Ethereum staking demand suggests an increased preference for liquidity amid uncertainty. Despite these sales, Buterin still holds a substantial amount of ETH (224,105). At the time of writing, ETH was trading around $1,868.04.
