XRP News: SBI to issue 10 billion yen onchain bond with XRP rewards for retail investors

SBI Holdings is launching a 10 billion yen onchain bond offering fixed interest and rewards in XRP for eligible retail investors.

SBI Holdings, a major Japanese financial conglomerate, is issuing 10 billion yen (~$64.5 million) in three-year, blockchain-based securities called SBI START Bonds aimed at individual investors. These bonds feature a fixed annual interest rate between 1.85% and 2.45%, paid semi-annually, and utilize the "ibet for Fin" platform for onchain management and settlement. Eligible retail investors who purchase over 100,000 yen and hold an account with SBI VC Trade can receive rewards in XRP tokens, equivalent to 200 yen in XRP per 100,000 yen invested, distributed at issuance and on interest payment dates through 2029. The bonds are slated for secondary trading starting March 25 on the Osaka Digital Exchange’s “START” system. SBI Holdings has a long-standing relationship with Ripple, dating back to 2016, and its Chairman and CEO, Yoshitaka Kitao, reportedly owns about 9% of Ripple Labs.
