OpenAI and Paradigm partner on AI agent tool for smart contract security

OpenAI and crypto investor Paradigm have partnered to develop an AI agent tool aimed at enhancing smart contract security and preventing cyber attacks. They introduced EVMbench, a benchmark designed to evaluate the capability of AI agents in detecting, patching, and exploiting high-severity smart contract vulnerabilities. This initiative follows recent high-profile DeFi exploits, some of which involved code written with AI assistance. EVMbench will test agents across various modes, including vulnerability detection and executing simulated fund-draining attacks in a sandboxed environment. The benchmark utilizes 120 curated vulnerabilities from audits, including those related to Paradigm's co-developed Layer 1 blockchain, Tempo. The partnership reflects a broader industry recognition, as competing firms like Anthropic have also noted AI agents' growing proficiency in identifying smart contract flaws.
