Animoca Brands cleared to operate digital asset services in Dubai

Crypto Briefing
Animoca Brands secured a VASP license from Dubai's VARA to offer crypto brokerage and asset management services.

Summary

Animoca Brands, a developer and investor in web3 and digital asset technologies, has been granted a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) license by Dubai's Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA). This license allows the company to provide virtual asset broker-dealer services, as well as management and investment services, in and from Dubai (excluding the Dubai International Financial Centre) to global institutional and qualified investors. This approval follows an in-principle approval received in October 2025 and completes a two-stage regulatory review process, strengthening Animoca Brands' Middle Eastern presence, which began with opening a Dubai office in 2025. Omar Elassar, the company's managing director for the Middle East, called the VASP license an "important milestone." Animoca Brands manages a portfolio of over 600 companies and digital assets, including holdings in Moca Network and Open Campus.
