X to launch ‘Smart Cashtags’ for in-timeline crypto and stock trading within ‘a couple weeks’

X head of product, Nikita Bier, confirmed that the platform will launch 'Smart Cashtags' within the next couple of weeks, enabling users to trade stocks and cryptocurrencies directly within their timelines. This feature builds upon the existing $TICKER system, allowing users to specify assets or smart contract addresses, which will then display live price charts, related posts, and direct 'Buy' and 'Sell' options. Bier also stated that the API powering this feature will work in near real-time for on-chain assets. This development is part of X's broader push into financial services, which includes the planned X Money digital wallet and in-app trading features, following a partnership with Visa. Concurrently, X is cracking down on spam and platform manipulation via scraping or API use.
