Optimism partners with Succinct to bring ZK validity proofs to OP Stack

Optimism, the network utilizing the OP Stack framework, has partnered with Succinct, a zero-knowledge proof infrastructure provider, to integrate ZK validity proofs into its core architecture. This integration, branded OP Succinct, designates Succinct as the preferred ZK proof provider for the Optimism ecosystem, starting with OP Mainnet. The primary benefit is replacing the traditional dispute-based system used by optimistic rollups with cryptographic verification, which will drastically reduce the multi-day waiting period currently required for withdrawals to Ethereum's base layer. This shift is expected to significantly improve capital efficiency for institutional participants and trading firms by eliminating extended settlement periods. The partnership aligns with Optimism's broader strategy of allowing OP Stack chains to select from various proving networks based on their specific requirements.
