Base App removes Farcaster-powered Talk feed to sharpen focus on onchain trading

The Base App, formerly known as Coinbase Wallet, has eliminated its in-app social feed powered by Farcaster to sharpen its focus exclusively on onchain trading. The team stated that the app's new purpose is to be "the best place to trade onchain," meaning the feed will now only display tradable assets and related onchain activity. Base contributor Jesse Pollak clarified that this decision reflects a need for a single primary focus rather than a retreat from social experimentation, allowing the team to "do less, better." Additionally, Coinbase is concluding its Base Creator Rewards program, which paid out over $450,000 to creators. This pivot occurs as Farcaster itself undergoes strategic changes, including prioritizing wallet services and being acquired by Neynar, with its co-founders recently joining stablecoin startup Tempo.
