Sony Innovation Fund invests $13 million in Soneium co-developer Startale Group, kicking off its Series A fundraising

Sony Ventures, through the Sony Innovation Fund, has made a follow-on investment of $13 million into Startale Group, the co-developer of the Soneium blockchain, initiating Startale's Series A fundraising. This investment follows previous seed funding from Sony in 2023 and an extension in 2024, bringing Startale's total disclosed funding to $20 million. Startale CEO Sota Watanabe emphasized that Sony's continued support aids their vision of bringing the world on-chain. The investment coincides with the launch of the Startale App, a super-app serving as the entry point to Soneium, an Ethereum Layer 2 built on OP Stack for entertainment and general use cases. Soneium has seen significant adoption since its January 2025 mainnet launch, processing over 500 million transactions and supporting 250 dApps.
