OpenAI social network could tap World’s eyeball-scanning Orbs: report

According to a Forbes report citing anonymous sources, OpenAI, co-founded by Sam Altman, is considering developing a social media platform exclusively for humans. To combat the bot problem plaguing platforms like X, OpenAI might integrate World's eyeball-scanning Orb technology for user verification. World, developed by Altman's Tools for Humanity, already issues World IDs after users undergo Orb scans, boasting over 17 million users on its World App. Alternatively, the small team developing OpenAI's social network is also reportedly looking into using Apple's Face ID for biometric verification. This strategy aims to leverage the success of OpenAI's products like ChatGPT and Sora to create a bot-free social environment, although World's eye-scanning methods have previously drawn scrutiny from privacy groups.
