BlackRock files S-1 to launch Bitcoin income-focused ETF
Summary
BlackRock, through its iShares entity, has submitted an S-1 registration statement to the SEC for the iShares Bitcoin Premium Income ETF. This new fund is designed to offer investors exposure to Bitcoin price movements while generating enhanced monthly income via an actively managed covered call options strategy. The ETF will hold actual bitcoin, shares of the existing iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT), and cash, including premiums from options writing, primarily on IBIT shares or Bitcoin ETP-linked indices. Coinbase Custody Trust Company is designated as the primary Bitcoin custodian. This filing occurs while BlackRock's IBIT fund maintains a dominant position in the crypto ETP market, holding nearly $70 billion in assets under management.
