CZ at Davos: Crypto Will Become the Native Currency of AI Agents

Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Changpeng Zhao (CZ), founder of Binance, asserted that cryptocurrency will become the native currency and blockchain the most natural interface for advanced AI agents. He noted that while current AI is limited, once agents can perform tasks like booking flights, all transactions will flow through crypto. Beyond AI, CZ highlighted asset tokenization, where he is consulting with over a dozen governments, and payments as key growth areas, though he admitted cryptocurrencies have not yet meaningfully penetrated the payments space. CZ also provided context on Binance's scale, claiming it serves 300 million users and surpassed the trading volume of the NYSE last year, demonstrating resilience during market stress. Conversely, he expressed skepticism about the long-term viability of Bitcoin payments and most memecoins, predicting a sharp decline in demand for physical bank branches.
