Former Alameda Research co-CEO Caroline Ellison scheduled for release on Wednesday

Caroline Ellison, the former co-CEO of Alameda Research, is scheduled to be released from a residential reentry management facility in New York on Wednesday after nearly a year in federal custody. The 31-year-old began her two-year prison sentence in November 2024 in Connecticut and was transferred to community confinement in October 2025. Ellison led Alameda Research, which had close ties to the collapsed crypto exchange FTX, founded by her ex-boyfriend Sam Bankman-Fried. Ellison pleaded guilty in December 2022 to multiple fraud and conspiracy charges and cooperated with the government, testifying against Bankman-Fried, who was subsequently sentenced to nearly 25 years in prison. The SEC is also seeking to bar Ellison, Bankman-Fried, and other cooperating executives from serving as officers or directors of public companies.
