Strategy buys another 22,305 bitcoin for $2.1 billion in biggest purchase in over a year as holdings top 700,000 BTC

Bitcoin treasury company Strategy purchased an additional 22,205 BTC for approximately $2.13 billion between January 2 and January 19, marking its largest acquisition in over a year. This purchase increased Strategy's total holdings to 709,715 BTC, valued at about $64.5 billion at current prices, representing over 3% of Bitcoin's total supply. The acquisitions were financed using proceeds from at-the-market sales of its various preferred and common stock programs. Executive Chairman Michael Saylor noted the company's capital structure is designed to withstand significant Bitcoin price drops. Despite this accumulation, analysts at TD Cowen cut Strategy's one-year price target due to increased dilution from equity issuance, although they raised their 2026 BTC acquisition forecast.
