Solana CEO Rejects Buterin’s ‘Ossification’ Vision, Vows Perpetual Upgrades

Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko stated that blockchain protocols must continuously iterate to remain useful and avoid obsolescence, arguing that perpetual change is necessary for longevity. He envisions future Solana upgrades being driven by a decentralized community, potentially leveraging AI, such as Large Language Models (LLMs), to generate and verify specifications for rapid self-optimization.

This stance directly opposes the vision recently outlined by Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, who advocates for Ethereum to reach an 'ossified' state—a self-sustaining milestone where the protocol's value rests on permanence rather than future feature promises, once hurdles like quantum resistance and scalability are met.
