Cake wallet adds Zcash support as it expands beyond its Monero roots

The privacy-focused Cake Wallet, historically associated with Monero, is expanding its offerings by integrating Zcash (ZEC) support. The integration enforces shielded Zcash transactions by default, meaning transaction details are concealed unless users opt out, aligning with CEO Vikrant Sharma's view that privacy should be the standard experience. This move reflects broader interest in blockchain privacy and increased Zcash adoption, evidenced by rising shielded pool usage and support from regulated exchanges like Gemini. While some users expressed concerns regarding Zcash's security claims, Cake Labs COO Seth For Privacy noted that the underlying demand for financial privacy is growing. Furthermore, Cake is enhancing privacy even for non-shielded transfers and has also introduced NEAR Intents for cross-chain swaps.
