Time2Build 2025 Winners: Breez Awards Bitcoin Prizes for Lightning Integrations in BTCPay Server, Primal, and More

The Time2Build 2025 developer challenge, organized by Breez and partners like Tether and Lightspark, concluded by awarding Bitcoin prizes to developers who integrated self-custodial Lightning Network payments into open-source applications using the Breez SDK. Over 50 developer communities participated, focusing on practical integrations for merchant payments, social platforms, and Nostr applications. Key trends included using Lightning as an interoperability layer with protocols like Nostr and Cashu, and favoring lightweight plugins over deep integrations. Major $3,500 prize winners included a BTCPay Server plugin, Evento (a social events platform), Portal (an identity protocol), and Primal (a Nostr web client that replaced a custodial onboarding process with a self-custodial wallet). Numerous other projects received $1,000 prizes and special mentions for innovations in areas like streaming donations, Cashu mint backends, and gaming integration.
