Football.Fun debuts FUN token as sports betting drives onchain prediction markets

Football.Fun has launched its FUN token via a token generation event, with trading commencing and listings confirmed on major exchanges like Binance and Kraken, across networks including Base and Solana. The platform is an onchain fantasy sports and prediction service native to Base, allowing users to trade tokenized exposure to athletes, starting with football. Operated by Panama-based Sport.fun, the project previously raised a $2 million seed round led by 6th Man Ventures. The team plans to distribute 20 million additional FUN tokens over the first month, rewarding users based on holding tokens in an in-game wallet and gameplay activity. This launch occurs as onchain prediction markets, led by Kalshi and Polymarket, see increasing volumes, suggesting a trend where consumer-facing prediction apps deploy native tokens to enhance user engagement amid intensifying competition.
