Ripple Receives Luxembourg Green Light For EMI License

Ripple has secured preliminary approval, described as a "green light letter," from Luxembourg's Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF) for an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license. This step brings Ripple closer to full authorization, which would enable it to offer regulated payment services using stablecoins and other digital assets across the European Union via passporting rules, contingent upon meeting final conditions. Cassie Craddock, Ripple's managing director for the UK and Europe, stated this is pivotal for providing digital asset infrastructure to European clients and praised Luxembourg's progressive approach, which supports MiCA-compliant operations. This regulatory progress follows recent authorizations in the UK and is part of Ripple's broader strategy to achieve full compliance under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework by securing a CASP license soon.
