CryptoQuant Founder Criticizes X for Penalizing Crypto Amid Bot Spam

Ki Young Ju, founder of CryptoQuant, has publicly criticized X (formerly Twitter) for its handling of bot spam and its impact on crypto-related content. Ju highlighted a massive surge in automated posts using the keyword “crypto,” exceeding 7.7 million in a single day—a 1,200% increase. He argues that X’s algorithms are unfairly penalizing genuine crypto accounts due to this bot activity, rather than effectively addressing the bot problem itself. He also questioned the effectiveness of X’s paid verification system, stating it now allows bots to pay to spam. Nikita Bier, X’s head of product, countered that the decline in Crypto Twitter’s reach is due to overposting by users, diluting visibility. However, Ju and others argue that X is actively suppressing crypto content, a vital niche for the platform. Despite the issues, X remains the primary communication platform for the crypto community, used for sharing market insights and news.
