Pump.fun overhauls creator fees as token launches hit highest daily count since September

Solana memecoin launchpad Pump.fun is implementing changes to its creator-fee structure, moving away from the Dynamic Fees V1 model introduced last September. CEO Alon Cohen stated that the previous system, while attracting builders, may have skewed incentives toward low-risk coin creation rather than prioritizing traders, who are the platform's "lifeblood."

The new system introduces creator fee sharing, allowing teams to split fees across up to 10 wallets, transfer coin ownership, and revoke update authority, with specific fee percentages assignable post-launch. These updates coincide with a significant surge in activity, as nearly 30,000 tokens launched on Pump.fun on Tuesday, marking the highest daily total since mid-September.

Pump.fun plans future iterations based on a "market-based approach," where traders, rather than deployers, will help determine if a token narrative justifies creator fees, as the platform seeks to rebalance incentives heading into 2026.
