Sei warns USDC.n token holders to swap for ‘native’ stablecoin ahead of planned upgrade

The Block
Sei urges USDC.n holders to swap for native USDC before its March upgrade to avoid potential inaccessibility or loss of value.

Summary

The crypto project Sei has issued a warning to holders of the USDC.n stablecoin, which is USDC bridged via Noble, instructing them to swap for the 'native USDC' before a significant upgrade scheduled for March. This upgrade will transition Sei exclusively into an EVM-only chain, deprecating its CosmWasm and Cosmos-native assets, including USDC.n. Sei explicitly stated that after the upgrade, USDC.n "may become inaccessible or lose its value on the Sei Network." Currently, about $1.4 million in USDC via Noble remains on Sei. For smaller conversions, users are recommended to use DragonSwap or Symphony, while larger holders should use a conversion tool on Brr that facilitates migration through Polygon back to the Sei Network using Circle's CCTP. Noble functions as an intermediary appchain in the Cosmos ecosystem for native asset issuance, including stablecoins.
