Rumble and Tether Release Rumble Wallet for In-App Crypto Tips
Summary
Stablecoin company Tether and video platform Rumble have released the non-custodial Rumble Wallet, enabling users to tip content creators directly within the Rumble application using cryptocurrencies. Initially, the wallet will support Tether's USDt (USDT), Tether Gold (XAUt), and Bitcoin (BTC). MoonPay is integrated to provide fiat on- and off-ramps, allowing users to convert crypto to local currencies. This integration aims to promote crypto's use as a medium of exchange rather than just a speculative asset or store of value. While Bitcoin was originally designed for peer-to-peer cash payments, its low throughput and high fees have limited its use for small transactions, pushing it toward a store-of-value role. Stablecoins, conversely, offer near-instant settlement and lower fees, facilitating value transfer online, though they face criticism regarding centralization and underlying fiat inflation.
