Crypto wallet firm Ledger faces new data breach through Global-e partner

Hardware wallet provider Ledger is dealing with a fresh data exposure incident traced back to its third-party payment processor, Global-e, as reported by blockchain investigator ZachXBT. A notification email confirmed that unauthorized access occurred on Global-e's cloud system, exposing personal details such as users' names and contact information. The extent of the breach, including the number of affected clients and the exact timing, was not disclosed in the initial communication. This incident follows previous security issues for Ledger, including a 2020 breach via Shopify and a 2023 hack affecting DeFi applications. Global-e stated it detected unusual activity, implemented controls, and launched an investigation with forensic experts, which verified the improper access to the data.
