Aave Labs moves to ease governance tensions with non-protocol revenue sharing

Aave founder Stani Kulechov announced that Aave Labs is committed to distributing revenue generated outside the Aave protocol to AAVE token holders. This move is intended to ease ongoing governance tensions between Aave Labs and the Aave DAO, which were sparked by community concerns over Aave Labs redirecting frontend fees away from the DAO.

Kulechov emphasized the need for alignment on a long-term vision to expand Aave into new areas like real-world assets and institutional lending. He suggested that independent teams should build products on the permissionless protocol, while the protocol captures upside through increased usage.

The proposal also mentioned addressing resolutions regarding branding and demands for Aave Labs to relinquish Aave intellectual property to the DAO. A formal proposal detailing the revenue-sharing structure is expected soon.
