Infinex Founder Loses $50K Bet Over ETH 2025 Year-End Price

Infinex founder Kain Warwick is set to pay $50,000 after losing a bet with Multicoin managing partner Kyle Samani regarding Ether's (ETH) year-end 2025 price. Warwick had bet at 10:1 odds that ETH would reach $25,000 by the end of 2025, a prediction that proved overly optimistic as ETH closed 2025 near $2,980, down 13.7% for the year. Samani called in the debt on X. Warwick acknowledged the loss but noted that ETH was still up 50% from when the bet was made. This overestimation of ETH's recovery speed was common, as other analysts like Tom Lee and Arthur Hayes had also predicted prices around $10,000 for the end of the year. Despite missing the price target, Ethereum achieved significant technical milestones in 2025, including the Pectra and Fusaka upgrades, with the latter moving closer to enabling near-instant transactions.
