Bithumb Flags $200M in Dormant Crypto Across 2.6M Inactive Accounts

South Korean crypto exchange Bithumb has flagged approximately 291.6 billion Korean won (about $201.8 million) in customer assets that have been dormant for over a year, some inactive for nearly 12 years. This disclosure stems from the exchange's ongoing dormant asset recovery campaign, which aims to help users reclaim funds they may have forgotten. The largest single dormant holding identified was valued at $2.84 million. Notably, some of these inactive holdings have seen returns exceeding 61,000% since they were acquired during early crypto cycles. Bithumb frames this effort as part of its customer protection measures, planning to notify eligible users directly. The existence of such large dormant balances highlights the significant retail capital left on centralized platforms by users who entered the market during earlier bull runs and subsequently disengaged.
