Unleash hacker begins laundering $4 million in ETH through Tornado Cash

A hacker has initiated the process of laundering approximately $4 million in ETH, which was drained from the Unleash Protocol following a security breach. The attacker exploited a compromised multisig, gaining unauthorized administrative control and executing an upgrade that allowed for asset withdrawals. The stolen assets, including WIP, USDC, WETH, stIP, and vIP, have been bridged to Ethereum and sent to Tornado Cash in an effort to obscure the transaction trail. Security firms are tracking the movement of funds, noting the attacker is sending ETH in 100 ETH chunks to the crypto mixing service. Unleash Protocol has paused operations and is conducting a forensic analysis of the attack, while advising users to avoid interacting with the protocol.
