The Block
Ethereum-based decentralized perps exchange Lighter launched its native token, LIT, dedicating 50% to ecosystem growth.

Summary

Lighter, an Ethereum-based decentralized perpetuals exchange, has launched its native token, the Lighter Infrastructure Token (LIT), to align incentives. Fifty percent of the total token supply is allocated to the ecosystem, with 25% of the fully diluted value designated for an airdrop to participants in the first two points seasons of 2025, and the remainder for future incentives and partnerships. The Lighter team receives 26% and investors 24%, both subject to a one-year lock and three-year vesting. Lighter stated that revenues from its exchange and future products will accrue to LIT holders through growth initiatives and token buybacks. The LIT-USDC pair launched early Tuesday, with the token initially trading around $2.34. Lighter, which launched its mainnet in October, has seen significant volume, surpassing $292 billion in November, and recently raised $68 million at a $1.5 billion valuation.
